Surface Laser Therapy

Leg Spider and Small Vein Therapy

We use the "double injury" method to treat spider veins on the leg. We first treat the target area with a laser, and then we inject a dilute sclerosing solution to eliminate the problematic vein.

The laser equipment that we use has the smallest focal point available anywhere, allowing for precision treatment of fine spider vein networks. To add to patient comfort and to protect the outer layer of skin (epidermis) the skin is cooled using an air cooling device. By protecting the skin, the laser power can be increased to its most effective level, maximizing each treatment and minimizing the number of treatments that might be necessary.

Depending on the severity of the problem and the location, most conditions on the leg require 3 to 5 treatments to ensure that all spider veins are treated. Treatments are spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Side effects are minimal: a slight reddening of the treated area, possible localized swelling. You will wear medically prescribed compression stockings for the first 7 days to minimize side effects and to protect the treated leg.
